Rhabdosargus sarba
Goldlined seabream have fine golden lengthwise lines and a rounded head. Compare the mouth and stripes with black seabream rather than relying on silver body colour alone.
Habitat and season
Warm coastal bays, with juveniles also entering estuaries.

Fishing methods
Fukase — drift float fishing
A lightly weighted bait drifts with a small stream of groundbait. The aim is to keep the hook bait moving naturally at the feeding depth.
Uki — float fishing
A float shows bites while suspending the bait at a chosen depth. Adjusting the float stop changes the feeding layer.
Short-cast bottom fishing
A light sinker and short baited trace cover nearby sand for whiting and gobies. Long casts are not required to learn where bites occur.
