Fukase — drift float fishing
フカセ釣り
A lightly weighted bait drifts with a small stream of groundbait. The aim is to keep the hook bait moving naturally at the feeding depth.
Tackle and preparation
A float rod, small reel, float, split shot and single hook. Use groundbait only where permitted.
On the water
- Set the initial depth and watch the direction of drift.
- Feed small amounts where the current will carry them towards the hook bait.
- Adjust depth or weight if the float and bait are moving differently.
