Known to many Japanese anglers as gure, this dark fish is closely associated with rocky-shore float fishing.

Rocky coastlines and reef edges.

A lightly weighted bait drifts with a small stream of groundbait. The aim is to keep the hook bait moving naturally at the feeding depth.
