Shore jigging

Metal jigs search different depths for passing predatory fish. Open casting space and a planned landing point are essential.
Tackle and preparation
A shore-jigging rod with a suitable casting rating, reliable drag, leader and landing net. Do not exceed the rod rating to reach distant fish.
On the water
- Check behind you, then cast and count the sink.
- Retrieve with a repeatable lift-and-wind rhythm.
- Vary depth and speed one at a time; stop if birds or other people enter the casting path.
