Diagramma pictum
Adult painted sweetlips have small golden-brown spots; juveniles have striking dark and yellow bands. Large shore fish are targeted on substantial bottom-bait tackle beside mixed rock and sand.
Habitat and season
Warm rocky and sandy coastlines, including southern Kansai.

成魚は灰色の体に黄色〜黄褐色の小斑点が散る。幼魚は黄色と黒のはっきりした帯模様で、成長による姿の変化が大きい。大型は太い仕掛けで狙う磯・岸の好敵手。
夜の磯歩きと大型魚による竿の引き込みに注意。立入範囲を明るいうちに確認する。
