Nibea mitsukurii

Honnibe croaker have oblique rows of small dark marks and lack the prominent gill-cover blotch of shiroguchi. Both may be called ishimochi locally.

Habitat and season

Coastal sand and mud, mainly along warmer Pacific shores.

銀色の細長い体に、背から腹側へ斜めに続く点列が見える。シログチと同じ「イシモチ」と呼ばれることがあるが、えらぶたの黒斑の有無も確認したい。

投げる前に後方を確認し、波打ち際へ入りすぎない。ひれの棘にも注意。
