Repomucenus richardsonii
This dragonet is known as gaccho in Osaka and megochi in many fishing contexts. It has a small mouth and cheek spines; it is not the larger flathead called magochi.

Sandy and muddy seabeds in sheltered bays.

大阪の「ガッチョ」、関東の「メゴチ」として親しまれるネズッポの仲間。マゴチより口が小さく、頭の脇の棘とぬめりが目立つ。呼び名だけでなく形で確認したい。
頭の棘に注意。「メゴチ」は複数種に使われる呼称で、名前だけで種類を決めない。
