Lutjanus russellii
Russell’s snapper resembles several other black-spotted snappers. A single flank spot is not enough for safe identification. Use correctly identified food-grade fish for cooking; heat does not remove ciguatoxins.

背びれの後ろ寄りの下に黒い斑点があるフエダイ。ただし黒斑だけで種を確定できず、イッテンフエダイやニセクロホシフエダイとの混同に注意が必要。幼魚は身近な岸釣りにも交じる。
食中毒事例のあるイッテンフエダイなどに似る。食用は種類と産地が確認された流通品を前提とし、シガテラ毒は加熱・冷凍では無毒化できない。
