Oblong rockfish

Sebastes oblongus

Known locally as bekkouzoi, this robust rockfish has irregular dark patches on a yellow-brown body. It tries to return to cover when hooked.

Habitat and season

Rocky coastal shallows and seaweed edges.

黄褐色の地に大きな暗色斑が入り、ベッコウゾイとも呼ばれる大型の根魚。根に潜る力が強く、仕掛けを入れる前に取り込みまでの経路を決めておくことが大切です。

背びれの棘と濡れた足場に注意。全国のレッドリストで準絶滅危惧とされるため、必要以上に持ち帰らず、小型魚や繁殖に関わる個体の扱いに配慮します。地域の採捕規則を優先してください。
