Nomase — live-bait fishing
ノマセ釣り
A live baitfish swims on the rig to attract larger predators. The bait must remain lively and the rig must suit the water depth and local rules.
Tackle and preparation
Ask the operator which bait, sinker and hook arrangement to bring. Match the tackle and landing net to the target fish.
On the water
- Lower the bait gently rather than casting it hard.
- Keep it above snags and monitor changes in its movement.
- Allow a clear take before applying pressure according to the hook type; avoid repeated speculative strikes.
