Tackle and preparation
Use the guide’s dedicated trolling rod, reel, depth-control equipment and line. Ordinary casting tackle is not an interchangeable substitute.
On the water
- Check the operator’s approval, tackle provision and current catch restrictions.
- Wear a lifejacket and deploy lines only when directed.
- Record line length and follow the skipper’s speed and depth instructions.
- Retrieve under steady pressure without crossing other lines.
- Land in a net and check the fish against the applicable retention rules.
