Bachikon — vertical soft-plastic fishing for horse mackerel

Bachikon separates a relatively heavy sinker from a light jighead and soft plastic. It presents a small lure at the depth of boat-caught horse mackerel without relying on the jighead to carry the whole rig down.
Tackle and preparation
A rod rated for the boat’s sinker, a matched reel, colour-marked braid and the recommended dropper or reverse-drop-shot rig. Rig the soft plastic straight.
On the water
- Clarify whether the called depth is measured from the surface or above the bottom.
- Lower the untangled rig and recover slack at the target depth.
- Lift slightly, pause and watch for small taps or a sudden loss of weight.
- Use a short hook-set and steady pressure to avoid tearing the soft mouth.
- Repeat the successful depth before changing lure colours.
