Ayuing — ayu lure fishing
アユイング（アユルアー）
A lure is used in place of a live decoy to draw a territorial response. Permission for other ayu methods does not automatically permit ayuing.
Tackle and preparation
Obtain the right permit and ask specifically where lure-based ayu fishing is allowed.
On the water
- Choose a permitted shallow run.
- Hold the lure in the current with controlled line tension.
- Move systematically rather than repeatedly disturbing one small patch.
